Adventure Team On the Rapids of the Salmon River in support of our military!
In August 2018, the Adventure Team is heading to Idaho, this time to the banks of the Salmon River. This trip spends five days on the gorges of the Lower Salmon, and comprises a hybrid rowing and fly fishing experience. Its sandy beaches are perfect for swimming, games, and activities. The river provides big, splashy rapids and the warmth of August will mean warm waters that meander through dramatic canyon scenery. Our nights will be spent under spectacular star-studded skies.
This trip is ideal for adaptive athletes with leg injuries– whether in a kayak or a rowboat, everyone is equal when arm strength is all that matters.
Getting in and out of a boat or a kayak, hiking, and scrambling are necessary intermittently throughout the trip, and may be required to advance down the river. Civilian Community Partners are requisite team members for this reason, and will provide support and steadying hands/legs on an as-needed basis.
All donations go toward program costs that enable MAP's small full-time staff to manage a workforce comprised of 100 people working to serve veteran clients, including attorneys, CPAs, interns, and local law students. MAP is a non-profit organization that aids veterans, active duty military, & reserve military personnel by providing them with free legal assistance to help eradicate debt. In 2015, MAP clients received over 800 hours of legal services, valued at over $89,400.
Adventurers must be at least 7 years old and in moderate health to participate.
All equipment is furnished, including large tents, thick pads and flannel-lined sleeping bags, paddle rafts, oar rafts and inflatable.

MAP's Adventure Team is partnering with Ouzel Outfitters for the 2018 Salmon River Run. Ouzel Outfitters is an accomplished and trusted adventure travel group. They provide large tents, thick pads and flannel-lined sleeping bags. Meals include grilled wild-caught salmon, grilled tri-tip (a guest favorite) and when fire restrictions allow, lots of dutch-oven baked cakes, breads, biscuits, etc. We'll dine on full-sized banquet tables with fine wines. Standard camp is very comfortable. Ouzel includes paddle rafts, oar rafts and inflatable kayaks on the trip so guests can choose their "thrill level". With a 5-day, 4-night schedule we'll have plenty of time for playing in the rapids, adventure swims, rock-jumping, hiking, etc. On a layover-day, Ouzel will organize a longer adventure hike.
